Abstract

The article proposes a technology for organizing practical literature classes for college students in the form of an integrated humanitarian Olympiad using interactive technologies. Work in the form of an integrated Olympiad in literature classes contributes to the formation of a broad holistic picture of the world in the minds of students, activation of cognitive abilities, skills of in-depth independent work with information, broadens horizons, helps to unlock the potential of talented children. The effectiveness of this form of work is justified by the increased interest in the studied disciplines, motivation for academic and extracurricular activities, and for the teacher – the possibility of creative self-expression. The Humanitarian Olympiad stimulates reader interest, healthy competition, activates mental activity, develops critical thinking. The peculiarity of the integrated humanitarian Olympiad is that students have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in several disciplines, to feel the close connection of important historical events, fiction and art. This paper presents a methodology for organizing an integrated humanitarian Olympiad (literature and history) based on the epic novel by L.N. Tolstoy: «War and Peace». The article provides methodological recommendations on the organization of the Olympiad, defines goals and objectives, outlines the main stages of work, and provides examples of tasks and questions for participants. The integrated humanitarian Olympiad motivates students to read the text of the epic novel more carefully, to study in-depth the biography of the author, the peculiarities of the historical epoch; teaches them to compare different points of view, analyze what they read; develops logic, critical thinking, research skills, and gives a holistic view of the topic being studied.
