Abstract

The article deals with the problem of the work of medical workers of the emergency medical service during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the article, the author comes to the conclusion that in the conditions of the COVID-19 outbreak, many medical workers have to cope with a heavy additional load, staying at work for a long time and losing rest. At the same time, an emergency situation with a pandemic could cause stressful working conditions for medical workers for various reasons, given their sudden transfer to other positions due to age vulnerability to the virus or new unfamiliar tasks and work in conditions of increased workload. The frequency of disease outbreaks has increased over the last century due to population growth, the increased interconnectedness of the world, microbial adaptation and change, economic development, land use changes and climate change. To new infectious diseases that caused epidemics in the past two decades include the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in 2003, influenza a subtype H1N1 in 2009, middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-COV) in 2012, the disease caused by the Ebola virus disease (EVD) in 2014, influenza a subtype H7N9 and coronavirus severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in December 2019, which led to the pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
