Abstract

The development of competition in the international educational space is increasing the role of transformation of the higher education system. Today, educational ratings are one of the main indicators of the level of development of the higher education system in Kazakhstan. National and independent rankings play a key role in increasing the attractiveness of not only applicants, but also employers, stakeholders and society as a whole. The article examines the results of rankings of universities in Kazakhstan for 2022-2023. This analysis will allow for a comprehensive study of the quality assurance system aimed at increasing the competitiveness of universities in Kazakhstan in the context of transformation of the higher education system. As part of the Strategy for the Internationalization of Higher Education for the period until 2025, a scholarship program for foreign students has been initiated. This initiative helps to increase the presence of Kazakh higher education institutions in international rankings, which is confirmed by statistics: over the past three years, the number of universities in Kazakhstan has increased from eight to 16 in the QS World University Ranking. These mechanisms help to increase the competitiveness of educational programs and university graduates in the global labor market, which must be applied in Kazakh practice.
