Abstract

This study is devoted to the study of the role of intercultural communication in the translation of technical texts and the influence of national characteristics on the interpretation of technical information. The relevance of the topic is due to the growing globalization and the need for an effective exchange of technical knowledge between representatives of different cultures. The aim of the work is to identify the key factors determining the success of intercultural technical communication and to propose strategies for optimizing this process. The methodological basis consisted of content analysis, comparative analysis, surveys and interviews with technical translators (n=120) and engineers (n=80) from 12 countries. The results showed that taking into account cultural specifics increases the accuracy of translating technical terms by 25.4% (p<0.01), and adapting the style of presentation to the norms of the target audience by 18.9% (p<0.05). Ignoring the cultural context leads to a distortion of meaning in 34.7% of cases (p<0.001). Effective practices of overcoming intercultural barriers have been identified, including pre-translation analysis, interaction with native speakers and subject matter experts. The data obtained have theoretical significance for translation studies and intercultural communication, as well as practical value for optimizing the work of technical translators. The prospects for further research are outlined, taking into account the dynamics of technology development and the transformation of the translation profession.
