Experience in spiritual and moral education of younger students through the implementation of the «Soul of Russia» program in Sunday school

Abstract

The article focuses on the relevance of spiritual and moral education of younger students, the formation and strengthening of their ideas about moral values, moral concepts, the communication of moral guidelines and the provision of opportunities for the implementation and consolidation of positive moral behavior in the process of educational activities and communication with peers. The experience of research, experimental and practical work on the spiritual and moral education of children of primary school age through the program «Soul of Russia», specially compiled and tested in the conditions of Sunday school, is also presented. The productivity of the program was established thanks to a comprehensive diagnostic study of a sample of students who showed a steady increase in the level of spiritual and moral education based on the results of classes. A special value of this pedagogical work is the reliance on traditional values that underlie the Russian mentality and self-identity, formed on the basis of Russian Orthodox culture and history. All this encourages us to publish the experience gained and present it to the pedagogical community.
