Abstract

The issue of the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation occupies a key place in modern pedagogical science. It is particularly relevant in relation to adolescence—the period during which stable value orientations, moral attitudes, and ideological positions are formed. Among the mechanisms that ensure a targeted impact on the spiritual world of a teenager, volunteer work occupies a special place: it involves voluntary participation in socially significant practices, which in itself sets a high moral threshold for engagement. The study examines the relationship between adolescent participation in volunteer activities and the dynamics of their spiritual and moral development. Volunteering is understood not as a one-time event, but as a systematically organized environment in which adolescents progress from passive participants to agents aware of their own responsibility to society. It is in this context that volunteering is viewed as a pedagogical tool capable of fostering such personal qualities as compassion, mutual assistance, respect for the dignity of others, and civic engagement. The study utilized a theoretical analysis of scientific literature on the pedagogical, psychological, and sociocultural aspects of adolescent volunteering. A comparative method was also employed to identify differences in the value orientations of adolescents who did and did not participate in volunteering. The sources reviewed cover publications from 2022-2025, ensuring the relevance of the analytical framework. The results demonstrate that systematically organized volunteering has a lasting positive impact on adolescents' spiritual and moral development. A correlation is found between regular volunteering and the strengthening of prosocial values, such as altruism, responsibility, tolerance, and spiritual sensitivity. Furthermore, the volunteer environment creates conditions for adolescents to develop self-awareness and understand their place in society, which directly relates to the goals of spiritual and moral education. The practical significance of this study lies in its substantiation of volunteering as a targeted pedagogical resource deserving of systematic inclusion in the educational process of educational institutions.
