The methodology of using paralinguistic tools in the process of studying the humanities (using the example of the works of I. A. Bunin and M. A. Bulgakov)

Abstract

Until now, when studying the semantic components of a work, paralinguistic tools are deservedly subjected to targeted analysis, since they can reflect the experiences of a particular character as impartially as possible due to their weak dependence on the volitional component, and therefore contribute to a deep understanding of the subtext. The article examines the paralinguistic tools used by I. A. Bunin and M. A. Bulgakov to reveal the mental state of the characters in the cycle of stories "Dark Alleys" and the novel "The Master and Margarita", respectively. The choice of works for analysis is due, firstly, to the fact that both are included in the compulsory general education literature curriculum (they may be interesting in the context of studying literature as such or as a general cultural material, to which reference is possible in the process of studying any disciplines of the general humanitarian cycle), and secondly, to the fact that both The love relationships of the characters play a decisive role, and thus it becomes possible to relate some of the paralinguistic tools used thematically. The analysis of these tools contributes to a more accurate understanding of the characters' images, their moods, and, as a result, the problems of the works as a whole. The paper offers options for assignments on the "History of Russian literature" in which students need to conduct research on various types of paralinguistic tools in the stories of I. A. Bunin and in the disciplines of "Russian language and speech culture" and "Pedagogical rhetoric", in which students explore these tools in the novel by M. A. Bulgakov "The Master and Margarita".
