Abstract

The article presents the results of a pedagogical study aimed at substantiating and testing the effectiveness of an integrated model for developing moral and ethical guidelines and patriotic consciousness among school students in the process of practicing sambo. The empirical base included 120 adolescents aged 12–14 from MBOU «Secondary School № 18» in Ryazan and the Regional Specialized School of Olympic Reserve «Native Land – Sport» (September 2023 – May 2025), divided into experimental and control groups of 60 participants each, comparable in initial parameters. The author’s program for the experimental group was built on three interconnected modules: educational and training (incorporating philosophical and ethical aspects of martial arts into technical practice), informational and educational (discussions «Sambo as part of Russian history and culture», film screenings and discussions, meetings with veterans), and activity-based and practical (volunteering, demonstration performances, participation in military-sports events). Diagnostics were carried out using M. Rokeach’s methodology of value orientations (adapted for adolescents), the author’s questionnaire on the cognitive component of patriotism, V. V. Boyko’s empathy test, and expert assessments of behavioral manifestations; statistical processing included the Student’s t-test and Mann–Whitney U-test at p≤0.05. The initial assessment confirmed the homogeneity of the groups. By the end of the experiment, the experimental group showed a significant increase in cognitive indicators: knowledge of history (+3.12 points), state symbols (+2.82), and outstanding compatriots (+3.07) at p0.01; in the control group, changes were minimal and statistically insignificant. The proportion of students with a high level of the emotional and value component in the experimental group increased in the indicators «pride in the country» by 46.66 percentage points (up to 68,33%), «respect for elders and veterans» by 45.00 percentage points (up to 75,00%), and «value of mutual assistance and camaraderie» by 46.67 percentage points (up to 81,67%). Behavioral indicators in the experimental group also improved: acts of mutual assistance – from 1.85 to 4.25; expressions of respect for opponents – from 2.15 to 5.10; participation in socially useful activities – from 0.45 to 2.95 cases per month (all p0.01), whereas in the control group, increases were minor and non-representative. The conclusion is made regarding the high effectiveness of integrating educational practices into sambo training and the expediency of implementing the model in school and sports institutions.
