Phraseological units as a marker of linguistic and cultural competence in the higher education system of the Russian Federation

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the role of phraseological units in the formation of linguistic and cultural competence of Russian university students. Based on modern research in the field of linguodidactics, the author emphasizes the importance of mastering the phraseological fund for effective intercultural communication. The purpose of the work is to identify the potential of phraseological units as a didactic resource and to propose methodological approaches to their development. The methodology includes linguistic and cultural analysis, student questionnaires (n=450), and a pedagogical experiment. The results demonstrate a low initial level of proficiency in phraseology (Ca=0.37), its growth in experimental groups (Ca=0.74) and correlation with general language competence (r=0.68; p<0.01). The conclusion is made about the expediency of systematically including phraseological units in language courses. Prospects for the development of specialized didactic materials are outlined.
