Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness and user experience of popular English learning software platforms – Duolingo, Stepik, HelloTalk, and Quizlet – among Russian students enrolled in English-medium instruction programs. The study reviews the theoretical frameworks of second language acquisition and the role of technology in language education, providing a contextual background for the analysis. The findings reveal the strengths and weaknesses of each software, highlighting their suitability for Russian learners and potential integration into academic curricula. The research concludes with practical recommendations for selecting the most appropriate platform and suggests future research directions. This study contributes to the understanding of digital language learning tools in the Russian context, offering valuable insights for educators and students in English-medium programs.
