Abstract

Statistics on the reduction of international cooperation at various levels of German-speaking entities with the Russian side, as well as the decline in the number of students learning the German language in Russia, confirm the relevance of the depopularization of the German language in modern domestic education. The article identifies the prerequisites for this phenomenon and highlights the problem of the lack of demand for specialists who studied the German language, usually at the expense of public funding, despite the evident need for professionals prepared to interact with representatives of China, India, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Organizational measures aimed at resolving this contradiction are proposed.
