Russian and French languages in Russian education of the XVIII – first half of the XIX centuries

Abstract

The article examines the Russian language in the Russian educational process of the XVIII - first half of the XIX centuries and its role in the formation and dissemination of national spiritual and moral values. The relevance of the research is determined by the axiological potential of the Russian language, its role in expressing, representing and promoting Russian spiritual and moral values in accordance with existing traditions. The idea of the value of the Russian language for a patriot of his Homeland is creative, since language is more than a means of communication. The methods of teaching Russian literature and their essence in the context of external factors are considered. The contribution of M.V. Lomonosov to the system of teaching Russian literature is studied. The basics of language teaching in Russian education are analyzed. The content of the curriculum for teaching Russian children literature has been studied. The article considers the restraining influence of the French lingua franca in relation to the Russian language in Russia. The individual manifestations of Gallomania and their influence on the attitude of the Russian people to their native language are investigated. The views of I.I. are analyzed. Translation of J. Betsky into Russian in the Russian education system. The article considers the position of the Russian language in public educational institutions and at the home-based level. The role of the French language in the upbringing and education of the Russian nobility is analyzed. The penetration into all spheres of the French language, the language fashion, and the low level of proficiency in the native language were detrimental to the Russian language, hindering its development, whereas it is the native language that acts as a cultural conductor.
