Abstract

The article is devoted to the urgent problem of the development of communicative and intercultural competencies among students-future teachers of foreign languages. The analysis of the scientific literature revealed the insufficient development of methodological support for this process in the conditions of professional training. The purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate and experimentally test a set of techniques aimed at the formation of these competencies as key components of a teacher's professional competence. Theoretical (analysis, synthesis, modeling) and empirical (survey, testing, pedagogical experiment) methods were used. A structural and functional model of the competence development process has been developed. The experimental work was carried out on a representative sample (132 students). The validity and reliability of the results are ensured by a combination of qualitative and quantitative data processing methods. The effectiveness of the proposed methodological complex has been proved: in the experimental group, the level of communicative and intercultural competencies increased by 28% and 34%, respectively (p<0.01). The expediency of integrating the methods into the system of professional training is substantiated. The organizational and pedagogical conditions for their successful implementation are determined. The results contribute to the theory and methodology of vocational education, enriching scientific ideas about the ways of developing key competencies of a teacher. The practical significance is associated with the possibility of widespread implementation of the developed methods in the educational process of universities. Prospects for further research in the aspect of diagnostics of the level of competence formation are outlined.
