Current trends in the development of the education system in the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation

Abstract

The article examines the issues of spiritual and moral education of the younger generation, as well as the conditions for a comfortable socio-psychological climate in the family and educational institutions for the harmonious and comprehensive development of civic identity in Russia. It explores modern trends in the development of the education system in the context of spiritual and moral upbringing. The relevance of the study is determined by society’s growing need to instill in schoolchildren and students value orientations that foster socially responsible behavior and personal growth. The aim of the work is to identify key directions for renewing educational practices aimed at harmonizing the intellectual and ethical development of learners. The study revealed four main trends. First, the integration of digital technologies (multimedia modules, online platforms) to increase learners’ motivation toward spiritual and moral topics. Second, a move toward an interdisciplinary approach that combines traditional subjects (history, literature) with elements of philosophy and religious studies. Third, an emphasis on practice-oriented activities: volunteering, social service projects, and cultural-spiritual intensives. Fourth, strengthening cooperation between educational organizations, families, and religious communities. The results indicate the need for a systemic renewal of the content and forms of spiritual and moral education. The integration of digital tools expands access to materials but requires pedagogical support. Interdisciplinarity promotes deeper internalization of values but demands higher teacher qualifications. Practiceoriented activities develop empathy and social responsibility, which should be reinforced at the level of educational policy. Future research prospects involve evaluating the long-term impact of these new practices on the formation of young people’s life strategies.
