Abstract

The relevance of the study lies in the need to find new approaches to the development of professional self-determination of high school and university students focused on technical professions. Current trends in the development of the Russian socio-economic situation have increased the demand in the production market for professions related to physics, but the interest of schoolchildren in physics has decreased over the past decades. Purpose of the study: to study the features of professional self-determination of graduates of Surgut schools and students of the “Physics” direction of Surgut State University. Research methods: review-critical study of scientific literature and empirical method - survey. The results of the study showed that the decrease in interest in physics, according to schoolchildren and students, is determined by the complexity of the subject and difficulties in understanding the explanations of teachers and textbooks. The leading motives for choosing the profession of physicist are the presence of technical abilities and interest of schoolchildren, the possibility of successful employment in large oil and gas companies. The importance for schoolchildren of choosing a specific university for education. 62% of schoolchildren are serious about choosing an educational institution to receive vocational education, since the quality of education depends on it, 29% are more focused on the opportunity to obtain a specific specialty, regardless of the university. Schoolchildren's orientation towards university ratings when choosing a profession. 75.5% of schoolchildren made their own rating of universities in the process of choosing a place to receive vocational education, 10% are guided by one specific university. The rest have not yet decided on this issue.
