Manuscript submission

The journal considers research articles and reviews within the aims and scope published on the About the Journal page. Manuscripts are submitted to the journal's email address shown on the Contacts page. Submission and editorial correspondence do not require a reader account on the website.

Submissions include an anonymised manuscript, a separate title file containing all author details and required metadata, and a cover letter. The letter identifies the corresponding author, article type, any preprint or related work and material overlap, conflicts of interest and necessary permissions. Funding and other information that may reveal authorship are supplied in the title file during anonymous review and restored to the article before publication. The title, abstract, keywords and bibliography also remain in the anonymised manuscript; only identifying information is temporarily removed.

The corresponding author confirms that all co-authors have read and approved the submitted version and that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere. Previously published results and materials must be identified and cited. Preprints are permitted if disclosed under the preprint policy. Republication is considered only in justified exceptional circumstances, with its nature clearly disclosed and all necessary rights secured.

The editors assess completeness, relevance to the scope, scholarly content, originality, and ethical and legal compliance. A manuscript may then undergo independent peer review, be returned for completion or be rejected with reasons. Receipt does not guarantee acceptance. The corresponding author is informed of progress and material changes.

Before publication, the editors obtain approval of the final version from all authors or their duly authorised representative, document licensing terms, and obtain any necessary separate consents to processing and dissemination of personal data. Submission itself does not replace these documents. The corresponding author keeps all co-authors informed; the editors may contact any co-author directly.
