Research on the creation of a thematic database of Chinese emigrants in Russia in Russian language

Abstract

Abstract In the modern world, the Chinese are becoming one of the most numerous ethnic groups that live outside their native country. The Chinese are the second largest diaspora in the world, second only to the Indians. According to the Chinese State Council for the Development and Research of Philosophy and Social Sciences, at the end of 2020, there were about 60 million Chinese citizens living in the world who have the status of migrants or are temporarily abroad. One of the most popular destinations for Chinese migration is Russia. According to the Federal Migration Service, at the end of 2020, more than 200 thousand Chinese citizens lived in Russia. This fact speaks about the importance and relevance of studying the Chinese diaspora in Russia. The existing databases on Chinese emigrants in Russia in Russian are insufficient and unsystematic. This problem makes it difficult to understand the real picture of the socio-economic situation of the Chinese diaspora in Russia and makes it difficult to organize events aimed at supporting and adapting Chinese emigrants. In this regard, the purpose of our research is to create a thematic database of Chinese emigrants in Russia in Russian. This database will include information about Chinese emigrants living in Russia and contain various categories of information, such as basic data, information about work, education, language knowledge, cultural characteristics and planned business projects.
