The role of schools in children's patriotic education in Russia and China

Abstract

This article conducts a comparative analysis of the role of schools in children's patriotic education in Russia and China, covering multiple dimensions such as historical background, theoretical basis, legal framework, and practical methods. Through sociological surveys, the article reveals the existing problems in the current education system. The research finds that both Russia and China's patriotic education systems originated from the Soviet model, but after the disintegration of the Soviet Union, Russia's system was once abolished and only gradually rebuilt in recent years; while China's system has continued to develop, closely integrating patriotic education with basic military training and centered on national ideology. Unlike China's compulsory and ideological education, Russia's education system lacks a unified ideological foundation and is more susceptible to Western propaganda. This paper focuses on the differences, effectiveness, and challenges in patriotic education between the two countries, providing a reference for further research in this field.
