Abstract

The practice of diagnosing speech development in young children is often characterized by a symptom-based approach, in which speech disorders are reduced to a speech therapist's conclusion. However, it is worth noting that scientific studies indicate that speech is not an isolated function and is developed in close connection with other psychophysical areas. Accordingly, a comprehensive assessment of the child's development is necessary to not only identify speech delays but also determine their causes, as well as distinguish primary speech pathology from secondary disorders arising in the context of intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and sensory or motor disorders. The aim of the study is to systematize and analyze the instrumentation, as well as develop a «Diagnostic Route» to help systematize the data obtained during the study. In accordance with this goal, the study addresses the following task: identifying and classifying existing domestic and international diagnostic methods for young children. The novelty of this study lies in its systematic analysis of diagnostic tools, the rationale for a comprehensive assessment, the inclusion of the latest international methods, and the development of a «Diagnostic Route». The practical significance lies in the potential for specialists to use the obtained results to inform the selection of diagnostic tools when examining children. The study is based on theoretical analysis and synthesis of methodological material on the topic.
