Abstract

The development of professional competence of recreation sector specialists is associated with the level of formation of operational skills that ensure the design of health-improvement programs, their adaptation to the characteristics of the contingent, and compliance with safety requirements. The practice of additional professional education shows that learners often demonstrate a sufficient level of theoretical training; however, they experience difficulties in implementing applied professional actions. This contradiction determined the purpose of the study – to experimentally verify the effectiveness of a program aimed at developing the operational component of professional competence. The study involved 200 learners of additional professional education programs in the field of recreation, physical culture, and sports, divided into control and experimental groups. At the initial stage, no statistically significant differences between the groups were identified, with an overall low level of practical task performance. During the formative experiment, psychomotor exercises, analysis of professional situations, design of training programs, and reflection were included in the experimental group's work. The control stage revealed statistically significant improvements in case performance indicators and theoretical scales. The obtained data confirm the effectiveness of the practice-oriented approach.
