Application research of ai tools in the teaching of classic foreign literature reading in the digital intelligence era

Abstract

This paper explores the application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools – particularly natural language processing, adaptive learning, and immersive simulations – in the teaching of classic foreign literature during the digital intelligence era. These tools enhance textual comprehension and sustain learner motivation. However, algorithmic objectivity may flatten subjective interpretation, foster teacher overreliance, and fragment aesthetic experience. To mitigate these risks, this study proposes enhancing AI’s literary adaptability through theory-informed models and diversified corpora, establishing a collaborative AI – Teacher – Student framework that reserves final interpretive authority to humans, and embedding AI ethics education to cultivate critical literacy. A balanced integration of technological innovation and humanistic pedagogy is advocated to safeguard interpretive depth, cultural resonance, and students’ aesthetic autonomyy.
