Goals and positioning of information technology education

Abstract

The use of information technology in the educational process has significantly accelerated the pace of modern education reform and the introduction of digital innovations, including network communication technologies and distance education. By contributing to the further progressive reorganization of the education system, informatization of education has become the basis for optimal distribution of electronic and digital resources in society and accessibility of social education. Educational institutions equipped with the latest information equipment achieve significant results by promoting scientific research and achieving success in academic management, making the educational process the most effective. To date, the implementation of distance education projects using information technology has already led to the creation of an open and accessible educational network and continuing education system, as well as the integration and optimization of the latest educational resources. This article examines the role and content of information technology in modern education. The purpose of this study is to identify the main characteristics of information technologies used in the educational environment, their purpose for use in the modern educational process; to discuss the relationship of students' information literacy with active informatization of educational processes, as well as further progress in obtaining effective and high-quality digital education by the population of the country.
