Information technology education and curriculum integration

Abstract

Integration in the field of information technology and the curriculum has become the main topic of education reform today. The rapid development of information technology inevitably leads to complex changes in education: from the purpose, content, form, methods to the total transformation of curricula in particular and the educational process as a whole. However, such changes must go through many intermediate stages. The article provides an overview of the role and importance of information technologies for teaching and their integration into teaching curricula. The purpose of the article is to identify the forms and characteristics of these intermediate processes, each of which will give an active progressive movement to the entire educational reform and a new functional purpose to a huge number of teachers. The paper considers various types of integration - information technology into educational programs, IT into educational courses, IT education courses with other subject courses, the purpose of which is to increase students' information literacy, identify their talents and develop them, use information technology as a means of supporting continuous and cooperative learning, laying the necessary foundation for learning, work and the lives of subsequent generations of Russians in the information society.
