The state of reflection among cadets of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system: empirical research experience

Abstract

The article is devoted to the development of reflection among cadets of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. Based on the works of S.L. Rubinstein, V.I. Slobodchikov, A.N. Leontiev, V.A. Lefebvre, I.N. Semenov, the author notes the importance of developing reflection among cadets future police officers. The article presents the results of an empirical study aimed at determining the level of development of cadets' reflection, as well as understanding the content of their judgments, which in one way or another reflect different types of reflection: perspective, situational, as well as reflection in the I and others system. The methods of empirical research were the Methodology for measuring the level of reflexivity by A.V. Karpov and the method of unfinished sentences. Such methods allowed us to obtain not only quantitative results (the level of reflection according to A.V. Karpov's diagnosis), but also qualitative results based on the interpretation of the meanings of the sentences completed by the respondents. In the course of the conducted research, it was found that the majority of cadets have low reflection and on the border between low and medium levels. The method of incomplete sentences allowed us to identify among the respondents those who can be conditionally classified as feeling and acting. The former complete their sentences with a description of their emotions, the latter with actions that they would take in the proposed situations. In general, the study made it possible to record the time range of the future seen by the respondents, certain contradictions in the completion of sentences that are similar in meaning, and the dominance of personal qualities that can complicate future professional activities. The results of the study allowed us to identify the most important topics for further discussion with the cadets.
