The concept of "linguistic personality" in the context of linguistic education in Russian and French universities

Abstract

Russian and French are two well-known languages, each representing a unique cultural and linguistic identity. This article compares the linguistic picture of the world through the concept of "linguistic personality" in Russian and French, taking into account the psychological characteristics of native speakers of these languages. When comparing Russian and French language personalities, one can see how differences in grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, and mentality affect the ways they communicate and express thoughts. Studying the differences between Russian and French language personalities allows us to identify characteristics that affect the perception of the world. Thus, it can help to understand the formation of people's attitudes towards other cultures. The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of the concept of "linguistic personality" in Russian and French linguistics and its application in the context of higher linguistic education. The purpose of the study is to identify the peculiarities of the interpretation of this phenomenon in two scientific traditions and to determine its significance for the training of linguists in Russian and French universities. The methodology includes a theoretical analysis of scientific publications, generalization of pedagogical experience, interviews with teachers (n=15) and student questionnaires (n=120). As a result, the key characteristics of the linguistic personality relevant for linguistic education are identified: motivational-value, cognitive and behavioral components. There is a growing interest in the formation of a secondary linguistic personality in the process of learning foreign languages. It is concluded that it is necessary to integrate the concept of linguistic personality into the content and technology of linguistic education. The results have theoretical significance for linguodidactics and practical value for improving the training of linguists.
