Abstract

The aim of the research is to theoretically substantiate and develop a technology for problem-based teaching of foreign languages to students of a technical university, aimed at the formation of professional foreign language communicative competence in the context of digitalization. The article defines the theoretical and methodological foundations for the implementation of a problem-based approach in teaching foreign languages at a university: goals, content, principles. It is revealed that the main goal of the problem approach is the creative development of the student's personality and is realized through the interrelation of practical, developmental, and educational components. The structure of the content of problem-based teaching of foreign languages to students of a technical university is proposed, including communicative, spiritual, and cognitive aspects, as well as systematized private methodological principles of its implementation. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that the interactive speech stage of working on a text using artificial intelligence technologies is presented, implemented within the framework of the technology of problem-based teaching of foreign languages, and a typology of problem-oriented exercises aimed at the gradual formation of language and speech skills is proposed. The results of the study confirm the expediency of using problem-based learning technology for the formation of professional foreign language communicative competence. The use of this technology contributed to an increase in the average level of competence formation by 47%.
