Abstract

The article examines the problem of developing technical stability and artistic expressiveness among saxophone students in the educational process of a higher education institution. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to overcome the gap between technical training and the artistic development of future performers. Technical stability is defined as an integral quality of performance training, including the stability of breathing, sound production, articulation, intonation, rhythm, motor coordination, and psychophysiological self-regulation. Artistic expressiveness is considered as the student’s ability to consciously reveal the musical image through timbre, phrasing, dynamics, articulation, agogics, intonational expressiveness, and stylistic interpretation. The article substantiates the pedagogical conditions for developing technical stability, including the individualization of instruction, the gradual development of technical skills, the systematic organization of technical work, the development of auditory self-control, and regular concert-performance practice. Special attention is given to the methodological system for developing artistic expressiveness, which includes work on the musical image, intonation culture, timbral palette, expressive means of performance, and interpretative independence. The methodological basis of the study comprises systemic, activity-based, personality-oriented, and integrative approaches, which make it possible to consider the training of a saxophonist as a holistic pedagogical process. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of applying its conclusions to the design of individual educational routes, the selection of repertoire, and the organization of concert-performance practice at music universities. The article concludes that the technical and artistic components of professional training for saxophone students are mutually interdependent.
