Abstract

The category of subculture took shape around a stable set of markers: a shared symbolic style, group identity, localization, and a distinctive stance toward the dominant culture. Applying this frame to network associations exposes a gap, since pedagogy treats internet communities mainly as instruments of instruction while their nature as an environment of value self-determination remains marginal. The study seeks to establish whether network associations reproduce the markers of a classical subculture or form an autonomous type of subcultural formation, and to build a frame for its pedagogical interpretation. The work relies on conceptual-categorial and comparative analysis, a structural-functional approach, and modelling grounded in the current federal educational standards and the professional standard of the teacher. An author's model is proposed that distinguishes an internet community from a traditional subculture along eight markers, together with a typology of network associations by the character of subcultural consolidation. A network association retains the core of the subcultural mechanism, the production of identity through style and boundary, yet rebuilds it upon permeable boundaries, multiple membership, and algorithmic delivery of content. Hence its intermediate position among the institutions of socialization, where pedagogical influence shifts from control of the environment toward supporting the learner's self-determination, and the earlier tools of educational work call for retooling.
