Abstract

Introduction. In the context of the digital transformation of vocational education and training (VET), the formation of information competencies for future technicians is a key task. The implementation of simulation modelling opens up new opportunities for this, but requires the development of a holistic didactic model. The aim of this article is to present a theoretically substantiated didactic model for the formation of information competencies of VET students using simulation modelling in the Electronics Workbench (EWB) environment and the results of its experimental approbation. Methodology and methods. The research is based on competency-based, system-activity and technological approaches, as well as the theory of experience foundation. Additionally, the concept of factor-pulses of self-organization, project-based learning and simulation modelling in railway automation are used. Methods of theoretical analysis, pedagogical modelling and a pedagogical experiment (2024-2025, 96 students) were used. Results. A didactic model is proposed that includes the goal, objectives, methodological approaches and principles, teaching technologies and methods, pedagogical conditions, teaching aids, the content of academic disciplines, stages of implementation (preparatory, basic, professional), assessment criteria and expected results. The experiment (EG=49, CG=47) confirmed the effectiveness of the model: the integral indicator of competence formation in the EG increased from 33.0 to 72.7 points (gain +39.7; p<0.01), while no significant changes occurred in the CG. Scientific novelty lies in the integration of competency-based, system-activity and technological approaches with the theory of foundation within a unified model adapted to simulation modelling of digital circuits. Practical significance. The developed model can serve as a basis for designing the educational process in digital circuitry disciplines and for introducing simulation modelling into VET.
