Abstract

The article examines the problem of training oil and gas specialists for professional activity under conditions of occupational risk. It is argued that the formal acquisition of occupational safety requirements, industrial safety regulations and production instructions does not ensure students’ readiness for safe action in real production situations. The main focus is placed on the gap between normative knowledge and the ability to apply it in cases of technological deviation, incomplete information, time pressure and dependence on the actions of other participants in the production process. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, studies on risk-related competence, safety culture, the human factor and simulation-based training, the pedagogical content of training future oil and gas specialists is clarified. The article shows that occupational risk should not be studied in isolation, but in connection with specialized disciplines, industrial practice, professional communication, analysis of incidents and near-miss situations. Special attention is given to situational tasks, case studies, simulator-based exercises and debriefing, which make it possible to assess not only knowledge of safety rules, but also the quality of professional decision-making. The conclusion is made that assessment should shift from checking individual terms and instructions to evaluating students’ ability to act in risk-related production situations.
