Studying the experience and reflections on teaching piano accompaniment in music education in Chinese universities using the example of piano accompaniment to the opera «The legend of the Red Lantern»

Abstract

The article examines the piano accompaniment to the Beijing opera «The Legend of the Red Lantern» as an example of the integration of traditional Chinese musical culture and the Western piano school. The research focuses on the historical and cultural context of the creation of the work, the features of its compositional structure, performing techniques and educational significance. The article analyzes such elements as polyphony, thematic development, timbre work and textural modeling, as well as methods of adapting traditional Chinese accompaniment techniques («maintain rhythm and tone») to piano practice. Special attention is paid to the pedagogical aspects of using this material in music education at universities: the development of students' intercultural competence, the formation of analytical thinking and performing skills, as well as familiarization with the national cultural heritage. The results of the study suggest that the accompaniment to the «Legend of the Red Lantern» is a valuable resource both for artistic practice and for educational programs focused on the synthesis of traditions and innovations in modern musical education.
