Compilation of oral educational materials for existing Chinese language textbooks in Russia

Abstract

The Russian idiom "Chinese literacy" implies the intricacy, complexity of a particular subject. For students, in particular, studying at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, the difficulty in learning Chinese is also the fact that there is insufficient availability of educational materials based on dialogues and case analysis, the entire course in the discipline is based on the Russian way of thinking. The article presents a detailed analysis of the current problems with educational materials for universities in Chinese in Russia. In the context of the active growth of interest in learning Chinese in Russia, it became necessary to create auxiliary materials aimed at developing oral and listening skills. Despite the availability of many high-quality textbooks on the Chinese language, these publications are often insufficiently provided with audio and video materials that help improve conversational skills. Thus, the purpose of this article is to develop oral educational materials that additionally support existing textbooks on the Chinese language. The main research method was the analysis of existing textbooks on the Chinese language used in Russian educational institutions, as well as the identification of shortcomings in aspects of listening and oral practice. Additionally, a survey was conducted among students and teachers, which revealed the key needs for the development of oral skills. Based on the data obtained, audio trainings, dialogues and exercises for fixing oral speech were developed, adapted to different levels of language proficiency. As the study showed, many textbooks do not focus enough on creating a natural language environment for students. The developed audio materials were tested in groups of Chinese language learners, which revealed positive dynamics in the assimilation of the material and a significant improvement in conversational skills. The students noted that the new materials help to increase confidence in oral speech, improve the perception of Chinese speech by ear and rapidly expand the vocabulary. The creation of oral educational materials adapted to existing textbooks is an important step towards improving the process of learning Chinese in Russia. Further research in this area may include expanding the use of multimedia resources and artificial intelligence technologies to individualize learning.
