Pedagogical technology of ethnic identity formation through social networks

Abstract
To identify the peculiarities of the formation and change of ethnic identity when using social networks, 420 people were surveyed: 49% of women, 51% of men; 82.5% aged 18-35 years. The majority are students (50%), representatives of science and education (16.9%). By nationality: Russians – 43.9%, Tatars – 32.3%. 14 in-depth and 5 expert interviews were conducted with active users, participants of chats and "virtual ethnic communities" on the VKontakte and Telegram platforms, spending from 3 to 9 hours daily in them. The factors of formation of "virtual ethnic identity", the role of social networks as a tool for its actualization are studied. The results of the study showed that 97.6% use the Internet several times a day, 30.5% – more than 6 hours a day. 98.8% use messengers, 95.1% use them several times a day. Social networks have a positive effect on 46.3%, a negative effect on 9.8%. 61% believe that social networks can form a civic identity. 60.9% of users are positively influenced or not influenced by social media. 50% of the respondents noted a negative impact, 50% - a positive one. 83.6% plan to continue using social media.
