Abstract

Problem-based learning is a type of educational process in which the teacher creates problematic situations, and students independently develop solutions based on their existing theoretical knowledge. The goal is to explore the possibility of teaching the fundamentals of medical knowledge using problem-based learning technologies. This creative process develops essential skills and abilities, and fosters creative thinking, cognitive abilities, mental activity, and other personal qualities essential in everyday life. The key conditions necessary for ensuring the maximum effectiveness of problem-based learning in teaching the fundamentals of medical knowledge are: selecting a problem situation in accordance with the students' age and intellectual capabilities. On the one hand, the situation must be complex to provide something to learn, while on the other, their existing knowledge and skills must be sufficient to solve it; students' motivation to solve the problem; a problem situation modeled based on the students' personal experience indirectly indicates the need to practice problem-solving skills; and a teacher who acts as a thought generator. Problem-based learning ensures the development of essential safety skills and a practice-oriented learning process. Memorization of safety rules occurs through simulated emergency situations.
