Abstract

Metaphors, like nothing else, reflect the historical and cultural development of the country, which makes them extremely important when teaching foreigners a foreign language. This study examines the need and effectiveness of including metaphor training in intercultural communication courses. The inclusion of metaphors in language teaching helps to overcome socio-cultural barriers, helps to understand and accept the peculiarities of national ways of thinking, further deepens the perception of language, develops critical thinking of foreigners in relation to language, helps them adapt to the dynamic development of language and avoid communicative mistakes. The study shows that this mechanism can effectively compensate for the shortcomings of the existing method of teaching cultural disciplines. Firstly, it can provide students with a deep understanding of macrocultural phenomena from the microlevel and contribute to their multidimensional understanding of cultural differences; secondly, it can stimulate students to transform from passive recipients of knowledge into active researchers and knowledge constructors, thereby developing their skills to solve the problem of cultural differences. This research opens up new perspectives and methods for the development of intercultural competence in the field of knowledge. In this article, the metaphor is presented as both a key and difficult moment to master in teaching the Russian language. Russian Russian and Chinese metaphor analysis, as well as methods of teaching metaphors in Russian as a foreign language, are proposed.
