Towards the problem of digital literacy of modern students

Abstract

The relevance and necessity of studying the issues of digital literacy of modern students in Russia is related to the need to identify areas for improving the management of the formation and development of digital competencies of future specialists. The purpose of the study is to analyze the problems of the specifics of digital literacy of modern students. The scientific novelty and theoretical significance of the work are related to the development of a system-integrative model of digital literacy among modern students. The methodological basis of the work is system-integrative, phenomenological-competence and personal-activity approaches to understanding the phenomenology, substantive and procedural aspects of digital literacy of modern students. The research method is a phenomenological analysis of digital literacy of modern students, including a meaningful understanding of the factors and ways of its formation and improvement at the university, in the preparation of students of both specialized and non–core specialties. The authors studied the works devoted to the problems of digital literacy of modern university students, summarized the results of studying the factors and methods of optimizing and intensifying the educational environment of the university in order to form and develop digital literacy of university students. The authors believe that a modern university needs a systematic, multilevel and multicomponent program to support the formation and improvement of digital literacy, as well as a theoretical and applied model of student literacy. There is a need for permanent specialized, specifically targeted programs and fragments of programs for the formation and development of digital competence, starting with digital literacy. This is necessary so that the university prepares independent, competent, responsible subjects of professional activity and relationships mediated by digital technologies and devices. The paper notes the importance of a systematic, integrative model of digital literacy, the development, implementation and improvement based on it of a system of measures for the formation and development of digital literacy of modern university students. The authors see the prospects of the study, therefore, in the development of a systemintegrative model of digital literacy for modern students of specialized and non-core specialties for the field of digital technologies and devices.
