The article presents the results of a study on the gender-specific perception of emergency risks using the free associative experiment method. The aim of the work was to identify differences in the structure and content of associative fields related to the concepts of risk and safety in men and women. The experiment involved 50 respondents (25 men and 25 women) aged 25 to 45, not directly affiliated with the EMERCOM professions. The stimulus material included 3 key concepts (e.g., «danger», «safe place», «emergency preparedness»). Qualitative and frequency analysis of the obtained verbal associations revealed statistically significant differences. Women showed a tendency towards emotionally evaluative and socially oriented responses, emphasizing the consequences of risks for family and loved ones. Men demonstrated a more instrumental and analytical approach, with associations focused on the causes of risks and specific actions to eliminate them. The identified differences are interpreted from the perspectives of evolutionary psychology and social role theory. The results indicate the necessity of considering the gender factor when developing communication strategies for public awareness and training on emergency conduct rules. Practical recommendations for a gender-oriented approach in preventive work are proposed.
