Опыт трудовой колонии имени М. Горького достаточно хорошо изучен в истории отечественной педагогики, но некоторые аспекты ее деятельности были подвержены идеологическому форматированию или же подробно не рассматривались и замалчивались. На основе предметного историко-педагогического анализа, сопоставления и интерпретации известных и малоизученных материалов, включая письменное наследие А.С. Макаренко, отдельные архивные документы и исследования зарубежных ученых из лаборатории Макаренко-реферат Марбургского университета, в статье представлено новое осмысление конкретных фактов из жизни колонии и дано историко-педагогическое обоснование основных принципов ее деятельности: педагогического оптимизма, «сожженной биографии», добровольности пребывания, воспитания в труде, воспитания в коллективе и через коллектив, «дисциплины полномочий» и комплексного воспитания личности. Особое внимание уделено раскрытию сущности «командирской педагогики» и вопросу телесных наказаний.
The experience of the Gorky labor colony has been well studied in the history of Russian pedagogy, but some aspects of its activities were subject to ideological formatting or were not considered in detail and were hushed up. Based on a substantive historical and pedagogical analysis, comparison and interpretation of well-known and little-studied materials, including the written heritage of A.S. Makarenko, selected archival documents and research by foreign scientists from the Makarenko laboratory-abstract of the University of Marburg, the article presents a new understanding of specific facts from the life of the colony and provides a historical and pedagogical justification for the basic principles of its activities: pedagogical optimism, "burnt biography", voluntary stay, education in work, education in and through the collective, "disciplines of authority" and comprehensive personality education. Special attention is paid to the disclosure of the essence of "commander's pedagogy" and the issue of corporal punishment.
