Искусственный интеллект (ИИ) играет важную роль в различных областях, особенно в высшем образовании. Использование искусственного интеллекта и его инструментов в преподавании открыли новые возможности для персонализации обучения по нуждам каждого студента и оказания им всесторонней поддержки. Несмотря на то, что система образования и применение ИИ развиваются с каждым годом, по-прежнему существуют некоторые дилеммы и недостаточно знаний о его применении среди преподавателей и учащихся вузов. Целью статьи является анализ значения искусственного интеллекта в высшем образовании и демонстрация различных типов инструментов искусственного интеллекта для разработки учебных материалов, планов и интерактивных заданий для развития знаний студентов в области преподавания английского языка (ELT). Важно рассмотреть сущность ИИ, показать специфику внедрения инструментов ИИ в ELT технических вузов. Новизна исследования заключается в расширении научных знаний о типах и использовании инструментов ИИ и GenAI в обучении и развить знания английского языка студентов технических специальностей с помощью интерактивных заданий, созданных инструментами ИИ. Материалы исследования включали научные работы по педагогике и лингвистике, а также методам преподавания иностранных языков. Важным эмпирическим методом также были углубленное наблюдение и сбор данных среди студентов и преподавателей. Кроме того, был использован набор дополнительных методов исследования, с акцентом на теоретический анализ источников, связанных с преподаванием иностранных языков. На основе анализа сущности ИИ в образовании были выделены различные модели ИИ и генеративного ИИ (GenAI), описаны их функции в ELT высшего образования, предоставлены различные инструменты ИИ для академических целей как студентам, так и преподавателям. Для сбора данных был проведен опрос среди студентов и преподавателей Национального исследовательского технологического университета «МИСИС» (НИТУ «МИСИС») и Российского университета дружбы народов имени Патриса Лумумбы (РУДН). Собранные данные и результаты выявили широко известные инструменты ИИ среди преподавателей и студентов, частоту их использования на занятиях, преимущества инструментов GenAI на занятиях по преподаванию английского языка (ELT) и различные другие мнения о внедрении ИИ и моделей GenAI в образование. Более того, данные выявили ключевые особенности инструментов ИИ и их преимущества, которые заключаются в вариативности предоставляемых шаблонов и заданий для создания увлекательных упражнений, активизирующих внимание студентов и мотивирующих их глубже погружаться в сферу ELT. Несмотря на некоторые опасения относительно использования ИИ в высшем образовании, существует и более позитивное отношение, что может быть ключом к доверию к ИИ и его инструментам в дальнейшем развитии преподавания английского языка в высших учебных заведениях.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a vital part in various domains, particularly in higher education. The use of artificial intelligence and its tools in teaching have opened up new opportunities for personalizing learning to meet the needs of each student and providing them with comprehensive support. Even though educational system along with the utilization of AI is being evolved each year, there are still some dilemmas and insufficient amount of knowledge of its employment from educators and learners. The aim of the article is to analyze the significance of AI in higher education and to demonstrate various types of AI tools for designing course materials, plans and interactive tasks for the development of students’ knowledge in English language teaching (ELT). It is vital to consider AI's essence, to show the specifics of AI tools' implementation in ELT of technical universities. The novelty of the research lies in expanding scientific knowledge about the types and use of AI and GenAI tools in teaching English to students of technical spheres. The research materials included various scientific works on pedagogy, linguistics and methods of teaching foreign languages. In-depth observation and data collection from students and faculty were also a significant empirical method. Besides, a set of complementary research methods was used, by focusing on theoretical analysis of sources related to teaching foreign languages. For collecting the data, a survey was conducted among students and teachers of National University of Science and Technology «MISIS» (NUST MISIS) and Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba (RUDN). The collected data and the results revealed renowned AI tools among faculty and students, frequently used tools during tutorials, the benefits of GenAI tools in ELT classes and various other attitudes towards the implementation of AI and GenAI models in education. Data revealed the key features of AI tools and their benefits which lay on the variability of provided templates and tasks for generating fascinating tasks for grabbing technical students’ attention, by motivating them to submerge deeper into the ELT sphere. Despite some concerns regarding the use of AI in higher education, there are more positive views which might be key for trusting AI and its tools in further development of teaching English language at higher education institutions.
